East Riddlesden Hall

One of the best things about being a function band is getting the chance to play at so many amazing venues. One of our favourites in particular being East Riddlesden Hall, Keighley. This stunning 17th century manor house with romantic gardens and converted barn is perfectly suited to every part of a dream wedding day. You can also rest assured that you will be in the capable hands of an experienced professional with Weddings Supervisor, Emma Cunliffe.

We would like to thank the happy couple Mr & Mrs Fowler for allowing us to be a part of their beautiful day at East Riddlesden Hall recently and share a few shots with you.

“Wonderful! The band fitted in so well with our relaxed feel and even our sixteen month old daughter was up having a boogie!” - Thomas & Catherine Fowler

What a difference…

… a great photographer makes.

We don’t often share the blog love with other kinds of businesses, but when we come across a real gem we just have to. For all our brides and grooms from the south, it is our pleasure to introduce to you – Richard Skins, Dorset Wedding Photographer. Enjoy!

Huge congratulations again and thanks to Danika, Gary and the lovely mother-of-the-bride for allowing us to be a part of such a beautiful wedding and then share these shots with you. All the best for the future x

“I would just like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Func On the Rocks and Annie their manager. What an Amazing session performed at my daughters wedding. From the onset Annie answered my questions via email promptly. The song lists for us to choose our tunes for the evening were extensive – fab selection, it took us ages whittling it down to our final choice – each song was performed brilliantly I must add! :) Even the request for my husband to join the band on bass for one number was accommodated and he loved it !! All our guests had a fantastic evening and the floor was filled from start to finish with our youngest guest age 2 up to my dad age 89!!! The staff at the venue all commented that they had never heard such a fantastic band play at Delbury. The only disappointment was that it was all over far too soon :( I only hope that I get the opportunity to hear you play again in the not too distant future :)

For One Night Only

The star of the show at a recent wedding this month was undoubtedly our honorary bass player, in the form of the blushing bride’s step-father Jon.

Jon on Bass

A musician himself from the bygone era of the 80’s, Jon just loves playing guitar and drums and still plays local charity gigs with friends. Both he and the very proud Mother of the Bride couldn’t wait to surprise the happy couple by Jon’s unexpected appearance on stage with us laying down a ‘phat’ groove on the bass to ‘Play That Funky Music’, which of course he did.

Here’s a little snippet of the stunning bride and groom, Danika and Gary’s reaction to their Func On The Rocks experience…

“Hi Guys!! Myself and Gary Shaw just wanted to tell you how AMAZING!!! You are all so talented, everyone said they could not sit down all night!! The extra saxophone really did just set every song off!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU you helped make our wedding day so special!!!! xxx”
- Danika Charlotte Shaw

They have also very kindly allowed us to share the special moment of their beautiful first dance with you. Enjoy!

I’ve got a feeling…

First DanceThere’s no better feeling than knowing you’ve put an extra big smile on the faces of a happy bride and groom by topping off their special day with a party to remember.

We still get choked up every time we’re given the opportunity to perform a first dance. Then we love to crank up the tempo and get your guests up and dancing the night away.

Such a Perfect Day

Just like your children, you shouldn’t have a favourite. But how can we fail to put this wedding up there with the best of the bunch? With memories flooding back via some stunning images from the super-talented Paul Joseph Photography we’d like to share one of our top weddings from 2012 with you.

A huge congratulations again to the happy couple David and Amy-Jean and another big thank you to them for choosing us to share their special day at Broughton Hall Utopia. The crowd were amazing, and kicking off the party with a Tina Turner classic Proud Mary, we couldn’t have wished for a better reception. We wish you all the very best for the future x

Paul Joseph Photography - David and Amy-Jean Wedding“A rather large portion of our guest list was made up of professional musicians and West End musical theatre performers. So, trying to find a band that could make an impression on such a crowd was always going to be a challenge. After trawling through endless sound clips on the internet, we had not found a band that even came close. Then one click later, the voice of Cherie Gears somehow managed to fill the room, even through the tiny speakers of our laptop. The next day, we had our band booked.

Paul Joseph Photography - David and Amy-Jean WeddingAnd what a band! This is a band that’s so good they had the dance floor full on their sound check! Turns out we had nothing to worry about, every one of our guests loved the music and they were not shy in telling us so.

You guys really did over-deliver and we couldn’t recommend you highly enough. Cannot wait for the opportunity to book you guys again! - David & Amy-Jean

We had a ball!

A massive congratulations to Nicola and all involved for such a hugely successful Charity Ball last weekend to raise money for FSID. It was an honour to have been a part of it. http://www.alexanderscharityball.co.uk

Nicola Richardson - Alexanders Charity BallThe Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths is the UK’s leading baby charity aiming to prevent unexpected deaths in infancy and promote infant health.

Performing alongside a great selection of entertainment including Magician Mark Waddington and Grosvenor Fun Casino was an absolute pleasure.

In total the event raised a staggering £16,000 in memory of the tragic loss of Nicola’s son Alexander.

Alexanders Charity Ball“I wanted to say a Massive Thank You to you all for Saturday night. The band were AMAZING and I don’t think I’ve seen a dance floor fill up so quickly ever! My guests loved the whole thing and the band certainly made an impression on them.

I had hoped for target of £15,000 for this year but we’ve exceeded that with £16029 which is overwhelming and I Thank You for being a part of it.
Best wishes
Nicola x”
