When you’ve been making music with someone for years, performing at their wedding becomes much more than another booking. Recently, our Yorkshire wedding band travelled to the beautiful Swan Hotel & Spa in Newby Bridge, nestled in the heart of the Lake District, to celebrate the marriage of our good friends Jake and Amelia. It was a day we’ll never forget.
From Leeds Music College to Wedding Day
Jake has been a close friend since our days studying together at Leeds College of Music. As a fellow musician and fantastic saxophonist, he’s joined FUNC ON THE ROCKS on stage a few times over the years, so it felt particularly special to be the band providing the music for his own wedding.
His now wife Amelia is also a talented singer, making this a celebration surrounded by musicians, family and friends who all share a love of live music.
As you might expect, musicians’ weddings have a unique atmosphere, and this one certainly lived up to expectations.
A Stunning Wedding Venue
The Swan Hotel & Spa provided the perfect backdrop for the day. With beautiful riverside views, stunning Lake District scenery and sunshine throughout the evening, it was easy to see why Jake and Amelia chose this incredible venue.
As a Yorkshire wedding band, we’re fortunate to perform at some amazing venues across Yorkshire, the Lake District and the North of England, and this has to be one of the most picturesque.
Live Music That Brings Everyone Together
One of our favourite moments came when Amelia stepped up to perform Man I Need by Olivia Dean, creating a truly personal moment for everyone in the room.
Later in the evening, Jake swapped the dancefloor for the stage, joining us on saxophone alongside a friend on trombone. We were also delighted to welcome the incredibly talented Mirabel as a special guest vocalist, whose performance of Uptown Funk helped round off an unforgettable evening.
Of course, some of the best memories weren’t planned at all.
Family and friends filled the dancefloor from start to finish, and seeing everyone celebrating together reminded us why we love providing live music for weddings.
Beautifully Captured by Jessica Rose
A wedding like this deserves to be remembered, and we’re incredibly grateful to the talented Jessica Rose for kindly allowing us to share some of her beautiful footage from the day.
Jessica has a wonderful eye for capturing the moments that matter most. From Amelia’s beaming smile as she danced the night away with family and friends, to Jake joining us on stage with his saxophone, her films perfectly capture the energy, emotion and excitement that made this celebration so memorable.
If you’re planning your own wedding, we’d highly recommend investing in a great videographer or content creator. The day itself flies by, but being able to relive those genuine moments – the laughter, the dancing, the music and the atmosphere – is something you’ll treasure for years to come.
